How to choose a fulfillment center in Moscow

By Shipperty · Updated

Choosing a fulfillment center in Moscow starts with your task: keeping stock and picking FBS orders, or preparing an FBO batch. Compare warehouse processes, pricing and handoff arrangements next. This guide helps you ask providers the right questions and compare offers using the same input details.

Which task does your store need?

Give each provider the same task details: products, SKUs, quantities, dimensions, stock and arrival and dispatch plans. Use the warehouse brief template and FBS and FBO comparison.

What to check in warehouse processes

  1. Receiving. Ask whether only transport packages are received or products are counted by SKU. Agree on damage, shortage and unknown SKU records. Prepare with the receiving guide.
  2. Inventory records. Ask where stock is visible, how sizes and colors are distinguished, when arrivals and dispatches appear and how to request reconciliation. Agree on access to records when the relationship ends.
  3. Requests and changes. Confirm the instruction channel and format, version replacement process, discrepancy contact and the point at which changes affect timing or cost.
  4. Packaging and labels. Define materials, file sources, matching labels to products and result checks. Review platform requirements when a task changes; use the packing and labeling guide.
  5. Delivery handoff. Clarify who registers the dispatch, agrees on transportation and confirms handoff. Warehouse preparation and marketplace receiving are separate stages. See the FBS and FBO delivery guide for required details.

Ask for an example of instructions and results for your batch. Include automated integrations, specific inspections and reports in arrangements only after the provider confirms them.

How to compare total costs

Request pricing for one scenario with identical volume, storage duration, order contents and operations. Each line should identify the operation, billing unit, quantity, rate and included materials.

  • Unloading and receiving: boxes, pallets or products by SKU.
  • Storage: billable volume or cells, period and stock changes.
  • Picking, packing and labels: orders, items and processing objects.
  • Additional inspections, urgent handling and other agreed work.
  • Delivery: destination, cargo details and handoff arrangements.

Clarify minimum charges, one-off fees, taxes and price revision terms where applicable. A preliminary quote should show assumptions and details still needing confirmation. See the fulfillment cost guide; Shipperty rates are in the warehouse rate table, with transportation under delivery rates.

Warehouse location and operational resilience

Check the actual address, access for your vehicle, entry procedures and arrival arrangements. Assess the complete route: supplier → fulfillment center → relevant drop-off point or platform warehouse. Proximity to one marketplace does not determine convenience for every dispatch.

Amid uncertainty, discuss fire, external damage, restricted access and operational disruptions. Ask about fire precautions, notification procedures and access to stock records during interruptions. Review liability terms, goods collection procedures and applicable insurance before handing over a batch.

A smaller warehouse can form part of a working-stock plan with reserves at another address. The benefit comes from inventory distribution; protection depends on the specific site. Confirm backup storage and dispatch availability separately. Read more about storage and stock resilience.

Example: why two prices are not yet comparable

Both offers cover handling one batch. Provider A quotes receiving closed boxes; provider B quotes opening them and counting products by SKU. A’s lower total does not establish which offer is better value: the scope differs.

Choose the receiving checks you need, request both quotes for that method and add identical storage, packing and delivery. Mark each comparison item: confirmed / needs clarification / excluded. Do not assume an unclarified operation is included at no charge.

How to assess the first batch

If the provider agrees to a small initial volume, define result criteria in advance. This lets you assess the process for your task. Agree separately on the first batch’s scope, cost and timing.

  1. Agree on SKUs, quantities, inspections, materials, cost and readiness date.
  2. Compare receiving results and resolve discrepancies.
  3. Check prepared goods and label matching within the agreed scope.
  4. Confirm stock balances, dispatch contents and carrier handoff.
  5. Compare actual work and the invoice against the agreed quote. Record changes before increasing volume.

Questions and answers

Where should I start when choosing a fulfillment center?

Describe products, SKUs and variants, stock volume, your FBS or FBO model, arrivals and dispatches. Prepare one brief for all providers, then confirm product eligibility and compare the same operations.

Can I choose a warehouse by the lowest per-unit rate?

Compare totals for the same task. Check receiving, storage, picking, materials, labels, additional work and separate delivery. Clarify the billing unit, quantity and included services for each line.

Must the warehouse be close to the marketplace?

Assess the complete route from supplier through fulfillment to the relevant handoff point, vehicle access and agreed preparation timing. Proximity to one platform does not determine convenience for other destinations or warehouse process quality.

What should I check in the first batch?

If a small initial volume is agreed, define costs, timing and inspections in advance. Check receiving using the selected method, stock balances, preparation and labels, carrier handoff and the actual invoice. Resolve discrepancies and changes before increasing volume.

Use the same task details when comparing providers. Confirm operations, product eligibility, materials, timing and charges before handing over goods; current Shipperty rates are linked above.
