The main difference is when and in what form goods reach the marketplace. FBS means handing over prepared customer orders. FBO means sending a batch in advance so the marketplace can pick orders from its own warehouse.
How goods move under FBS and FBO
FBS: the order comes first
- Before a sale
- The seller or their warehouse operator stores the goods.
- After a purchase
- The seller or operator picks the products, packs the order and applies labels.
- Marketplace handoff
- The prepared order goes to the agreed drop-off point or sorting center. The marketplace then delivers it to the customer.
FBO: the batch comes first
- Before a sale
- The seller prepares a batch and sends it to a marketplace warehouse.
- After a purchase
- The marketplace picks an order from goods already received at its warehouse.
- Marketplace handoff
- A batch of goods is shipped, rather than individual customer orders. The marketplace then stores goods, processes orders and delivers them.
Example. If a customer buys two different items, FBS requires picking them for that specific order. Under FBO, the same items are included in an advance warehouse shipment; order picking happens after the sale.
FBO, FBW and FBY: marketplace warehouse models
Ozon calls its marketplace warehouse model FBO. Wildberries uses a similar approach with “WB Warehouse”, or FBW, while Yandex Market calls it FBY. In this guide, FBO refers to the general workflow of preparing a batch for storage at a marketplace warehouse.
The overall approach is similar, but receiving, packing and shipment registration rules differ. Choose the model and handoff destination in the relevant seller account. Read about warehouse models and FBS in the Wildberries help center and Yandex Market documentation.
What to prepare before dispatch
For an FBS order
- Check order contents: SKUs, product variants and quantities.
- Agree on packaging and prepare labels according to platform requirements.
- Confirm the handoff point and dispatch deadline specified for the order.
- Give the carrier the package count, dimensions, weight and handoff details.
For an FBO / FBW / FBY batch
- Prepare a product list with quantities for each SKU.
- Register the shipment in the seller account and select an available warehouse.
- Agree on product packaging, boxes or pallets and required labels.
- Provide the receiving date, documents and access-pass details when required.
Before preparation, check current platform instructions and shipment details: packaging, labels and receiving procedures depend on the products and destination.
How to compare the costs
For FBS, account for storage with the seller or operator, processing each order and handing it to the marketplace. For the warehouse model, include batch preparation, transportation to the marketplace warehouse and the platform’s own services under its current terms.
Compare the same product range over the same period: item count, expected orders, shipment volume and frequency. Shipperty fulfillment rates cover warehouse operations; marketplace delivery rates cover transportation. Platform commissions and services are accounted for separately.
Where Shipperty fits into the workflow
We can receive goods, store them, pick orders, pack and apply labels as agreed. After preparation, we arrange FBS order handoff or batch delivery to a marketplace warehouse. Selected warehouse operations or transportation of already prepared cargo can be arranged separately.
For a quote, provide the platform, sales model, product list, batch volume or order count, cargo details and dispatch date. Discuss your shipment with Shipperty · Warehouse address.
Next preparation step: packing, labeling and a dispatch checklist.
Questions and answers
Do I need my own warehouse for FBS?
Goods must be stored by the seller or a warehouse operator. Owning a warehouse is not required: storage, picking and order preparation can be arranged with Shipperty.
Can I arrange delivery of already prepared orders only?
Yes. If your orders or batch are already packed and labeled, you can arrange delivery without storage or picking. Provide the platform, destination, date and cargo details in advance.
Are FBO, FBW and FBY the same model?
These are the names used for marketplace warehouse storage and order processing at Ozon, Wildberries and Yandex Market respectively. The general approach is similar, but receiving requirements, rates and eligible products differ.
Does fulfillment pricing include delivery?
Warehouse operations and transportation are priced separately. The total depends on the selected work, order or batch contents, storage and delivery route.
