Laptop parts: shared inventory and a move to FBS

By Shipperty · Updated

Expensive laptop parts, many variants and uneven demand require careful SKU-level stock management. In 2026, a Shipperty client is moving from three marketplaces’ warehouses to FBS. Shipperty holds working stock in Moscow, while the seller keeps the least frequently ordered parts at their own premises.

Real client case. The business remains anonymous; the story and operating model are based on the client’s account. Stock quantities, losses and savings in rubles are not disclosed.

A broad range with different sales frequencies

The client sells laptop batteries, displays, housings, keyboards, touchpads and chargers on Wildberries, Ozon and Yandex Market. These are valuable products, and demand varies substantially by model and part. Popular displays sell regularly; a part for an older, less common laptop may wait months for a buyer.

Previously, inventory was split among three marketplaces’ warehouses, requiring separate shipment and stock planning for each platform. Slow-moving parts also occupied storage space.

Why the client reconsidered storage in 2026

According to the client, some of their goods were lost in fires at Wildberries warehouses following attacks by unmanned aerial vehicles. This experience was one reason for switching to FBS and distributing smaller batches among several fulfillment centers. The client chose Shipperty for Moscow operations.

Public reports provide the general context for incidents in 2026: Interfax on sites in Elektrostal and Kotovsk and RBC on warehouses in St Petersburg and the Leningrad region. These reports describe the incidents; this seller’s losses are based on the client’s account.

The new model limits stock concentrated at one address and keeps part of the assortment at other sites in case of a local incident or warehouse shutdown.

Shared working stock in Moscow, rare parts with the seller

The seller does not need to place every rare part in three marketplace warehouses in advance. Working stock is replenished as needed, with reserves and slow-moving parts recorded separately.

One stock pool, three dispatch destinations

Seller’s goods → Shipperty warehouse in Moscow → order picking → packaging and platform label → marketplace receiving point or logistics center.

Rare parts arrive from the seller before order preparation. Allow time for transport, receiving, picking and timely handoff.

How an FBS order is prepared

  1. The seller supplies the order. Include the platform, order ID, exact SKU, variant, quantity, labels and handoff deadline.
  2. The warehouse confirms availability. Orders use received working stock. If a part is with the seller, confirm its incoming delivery and receiving first.
  3. The part is picked to instructions. Similar displays, keyboards and batteries need a product code, model and agreed distinguishing features. A similar variant is not substituted without agreement.
  4. The order is prepared. Packaging and labels follow agreed product and platform requirements.
  5. The prepared shipment reaches the marketplace. Transportation to the agreed receiving point, sorting or logistics center is arranged separately from warehouse work.

Shared stock needs an agreed process for available quantities and reservations across platforms. Confirm order transmission, stock updates and timing before launch. See the FBS picking guide for details.

What this model offers the seller

  • Simpler Moscow stock management. One working stock pool serves three sales channels without allocating every unit to a particular marketplace in advance.
  • A way to reduce paid storage volume. The least frequently ordered parts stay with the seller. Actual savings depend on rates, stock quantities and incoming delivery costs.
  • Lower inventory concentration. Working batches and reserves are spread across addresses, so a local incident does not affect all stock at one site.
  • A choice of replenishment method. The client delivers parts themselves or arranges collection and transportation with Shipperty.

The protective benefit comes from distributing inventory. A smaller warehouse alone does not guarantee product safety. Plan reserve access and the ability to continue dispatch in advance; agree on storage conditions and responsibilities before delivering stock.

A checklist for similar products

  • Group SKUs by sales frequency and size working stock around replenishment lead time.
  • Record each part’s code, compatibility and features that distinguish similar variants.
  • Decide which rare parts stay with you and how quickly they can reach the warehouse.
  • Agree on reservations and stock updates across marketplaces so one unit is not allocated to several orders.
  • Confirm receiving, storage, packaging and transportation conditions for displays and batteries. Functional testing is agreed separately from counting and inspection.
  • Price the full process: receiving, storage, picking, materials, rare-part collection and outbound delivery.
  • Define notifications and access to records and reserve stock if one site stops operating.

What Shipperty can handle

Shipperty is a fulfillment and prep center in Moscow. For an agreed assortment, arrange receiving, working-stock storage, FBS picking, packing, labels and delivery of prepared orders to marketplaces. Collection from the seller is agreed by address and batch details.

A quote needs SKU details, dimensions and product characteristics, working-stock volume, expected orders by platform and the collection address. Check current warehouse rates; transportation is priced separately.

Questions and answers

Can three marketplaces’ orders use one stock pool?

Yes. In this case, working stock at Shipperty supplies orders for Ozon, Wildberries and Yandex Market. Agree on available quantity records, reservations, order transmission and stock updates before launch.

Do I need to send my entire assortment to fulfillment?

No. The client keeps more frequently ordered parts at Shipperty and the rarest parts at their own premises. They arrive before order preparation, allowing time for transport, receiving, picking and marketplace handoff.

Can Shipperty collect a rare part from the seller?

Collection can be agreed by address, product details, deadline and price. The client can also deliver the goods themselves. Arrival and readiness for picking are confirmed separately.

Does distributing stock eliminate fire risk?

No. It limits stock held at one address and keeps some inventory at other sites in case of a local incident. Warehouse size alone does not guarantee safety; agree on storage conditions, responsibilities and reserve access.

Does this case include verified savings figures?

Losses and savings in rubles are not disclosed. The model allows the seller to reduce paid storage for rare parts, but the total must include warehouse operations, materials, incoming transport and order delivery.
